Electrical Engineer

Electrical Engineers

An Electrician, or a Wireman, installs and repairs electrical power systems in businesses, homes, factories and public spaces. Their main duties include planning the layout of electrical wiring, diagnosing electrical problems and conducting general electrical maintenance. Responsibilities also include:

  • Surveying sites where electrical systems are installed
  • Drafting electrical installation plans and technical diagrams
  • Installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing all electrical systems in public spaces and buildings
  • Ensuring that electrical systems adhere to the national electrical safety standards and regulations
  • Supervising ongoing electrical system installations and providing technical expertise to installation teams where needed
  • Using blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturerโ€™s installation manuals to complete projects
  • Completing work orders and recording materials that are used on the job
  • Identifying electrical problems and repairing them
  • Advising the companyโ€™s management when to replace aged electrical equipment to prevent hazards
  • Conducting general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues with testing equipment.

Plumbing & Heating Engineers

Construction Assessor

Construction Assessor/Tutor

This role exists to so support learners in developing their knowledge and skills in accordance with contractual requirements and national occupational standards. Responsibilities include:

  • To review course content and delivery methods regularly.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and learner performance goals.
  • To ensure all relevant evidence of learning is accurately and correctly documented and completed for each learner.
  • Provide feedback and support to learners on a one-to-one/ group basis.
  • To assist in the delivery of course material outside of the subject, functional Skills.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Training/centre Manager.
  • To provide pastoral care and support to students.

Requirements:

  • Holder of assessor/verifier qualifications such as: A1/or Equivalent, Teaching qualification.
  • Occupational Construction Industry experience, preferably with experience in Construction Site Supervision/Management, including relevant NVQ qualifications at Level 3 or above.

Construction worker

Construction Worker/Labourer

A Construction Worker, or Construction Labourer, performs a wide range of manual tasks at construction sites. Their duties include loading and unloading building materials, erecting scaffolding and removing debris, as well as:

  • Assisting other site contractors and tradesmen such as Carpenters, Bricklayers, Masons, Electricians and Plumbers.
  • Preparing construction sites, tools and materials.
  • Assisting with the transporting, loading and unloading of building materials, equipment and tools.
  • Cleaning the construction site, removing debris, unused materials and hazardous substances.
  • Regulate traffic at construction sites and enforce health and safety regulations. Depending on their skills, Construction
  • Workers can also operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, cranes and pile drivers.

Requirements:

  • Physical strength and stamina to complete physically demanding work outdoors for long hours.
  • Basic maths skills to take accurate measurements while mixing materials on job sites.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of building and construction including basic engineering methods and principle
