Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
Internal quality assurance (IQA)ย seeks to ensure that assessment activities have been conducted in a consistent, safe and fair manner.
Internal quality assurers are often supervisors or managers and are naturally responsible for staff, systems and procedures. Some are still working as assessors and performing both roles for the subject.
- Check that assessors meet the requirement for their role
- Plan and prepare monitoring activities
- Work alongside assessors, trainers and employers to ensure the standardisation of assessment practices
- Observing trainer and assessor performance, providing constructive feedback
- Providing support to trainers and assessors
- Sampling assessment records and decisions
- Meeting with learners
- Planning how and when you will monitor trainers and assessors

EPA End Point Assessor (EPA)
The role of End Point Assessment is to assess an apprentice’s competence and knowledge against the industry-specific standards through the review of written portfolios/projects and face-face competency-based assessments.
- All Applicants must have credible expertise in regulatory delivery, relative to the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours detailed in the Standard they are applying to assess, and have kept themselves up-to-date with developments in regulatory practice.
- Prior competency-based assessment experience is not mandatory but is desirable. You must hold or be working towards an independent assessor qualification.
- Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to produce reports and student feedback.
- A key requirement of the role will be the availability to conduct UK based face to face and/or online interviews during the UK working day.
- Assessors will be expected to complete relevant training and attend the required number of EPAOโs standardisation and training events per year.
